Carpet Cleaning Grooming

Steamer’s Carpet Care technician grooming the carpet to enhance drying capacity.

Back in August, we discussed the mechanics of how carpet dries after it has been steam cleaned. It’s the number one question we get when customers are booking their carpet cleaning appointment. As we discussed in our prior blog, drying carpet that has been steam cleaned in the hotter months in Texas is partly a function of the air conditioner’s ability to de-humidify the air which in turn dries the carpet.

To assist the HVAC system in drying, a good carpet cleaning company will have their technicians groom the carpet after cleaning. This is done using a carpet rake, which is a rake made for grooming cut pile carpeting. Once the carpet has been groomed with a carpet rake, the fibers are left standing straight up, which allows airflow to permeate in and around the fibers, which decreases drying time.
