The end of March is here, and that means it’s time for our monthly charity spotlight! This month we’re shining the light on The Boot Campaign, a national non-profit organization whose mission is to show “tangible appreciation of our active military, raising awareness of the challenges they face upon return and supporting their transition home.” Or to put it in the brief words of the organization’s ad campaign,”When they come back, we give back.”
The Boot Campaign was actually founded here in Texas by five “sassy, hardworking” women known as the Boot Girls. Together they formed and still manage The Boot Campaign. They encourage everyone to “get their boots on” and show support for America’s troops.
Each year the organization sponsors various events across the country. Coming up soon right here in central Texas is the “3rd Annual Granger Smith 100 Mile Boot Walk”. For the third straight year, country artist Granger Smith is walking a 100 mile stretch between Austin and Fort Hood for the benefit of the dedicated men and women who serve in our military. The event takes place this year April 7-11, so mark your calendar!
Consider joining Granger as he walks and help The Boot Campaign reach its $20,000 goal. The proceeds raised will benefit servicemen and servicewomen directly by helping provide:
- Mortgage-free housing
- Shelter for the homeless
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) counseling
- Wellness retreats
- Emergency assisted funds
- Retreats for surviving spouses and more.
Can’t physically join Granger on the walk? Create a Boot Walk fundraising team to encourage family, friends and co-workers to donate financially and to motivate others to benefit our troops.
Here at Steamer’s Carpet Care, we’re proud of our troops and wish them a smooth, safe and successful transition home. We’re pleased to be able to promote an organization that is making that a little easier to achieve.
