07 Sep Help Us Fight Hunger in San Antonio!
Throughout the month of September, we’ll be donating $1 to the San Antonio Food Bank (SAFB) for every one “like” that we receive on our Facebook page. That one dollar you donate will buy 7 meals for hungry individuals and families in Southwest Texas.
Our goal is to reach 1,000 likes by the end of the month and supply 7,000 meals to the Food Bank. 7,000 meals is enough food to make a HUGE difference in our community.
Haven’t Heard of the San Antonio Food Bank?
The San Antonio Food Bank provides food and grocery products to more than 500 partner agencies around the Southwest Texas area. In 2011 the Food Bank shipped out over 50 million pounds of food and sponsored a number of education and advocacy programs all aimed at fighting hunger.
Over 230,000 people in Southwest Texas rely on the Food Bank’s network of programs and services. More than a third of those who receive food assistance are children. Another 14 percent are elderly and 8 percent are homeless.
San Antonio Goes Orange Campaign
This month the Food Bank will be stepping up its efforts at fundraising through the SA Goes Orange Campaign. September is the national Hunger Action Month, and orange is the color of hunger awareness.
