The Best Way to Handle Flooded Carpet

It’s been raining a lot this week. When we get as much rain as we have recently, homes in low-lying areas can get flooded. If your home has been flooded, you’re probably more worried about replacing and restoring your possessions than you are your carpet, but it’s important to get all of the water out of your carpet, too. Wet carpets can be a breeding ground for mold and bacteria.

With any carpet flooding, we recommend that you call us as soon as possible. Flooding can often soak through the carpet into the padding and the floor underneath it, and if you’re not thorough, you can miss a pool of water. We have a 24/7 emergency water extraction team with quick response times and powerful equipment.

Although there is rentable equipment out there, it is not advised to tackle this job on your own. Especially if the affected area is larger than a few square feet, your best bet for saving your floor is to call in a team of professionals. If you do attempt to do the job yourself, you’ll need a wet vac to suck all of the water out of the carpet. Be very careful, though, as even wet vacs pose an electrical shock hazard. Similarly, your home vacuum cleaner will not work for this task and will be dangerous to use.

If your home has been a victim of flooding, contact us as soon as possible so we can get started saving your carpet. Call 210-978-0263 or 830-433-5587 for immediate service.
