Tip Of The Day: Getting Rid Of Odors In Carpet

Baking cookies is a great way to fill your apartment or house with probably the best smell in the world. However, covering up smells isn’t always the best solution to keeping your home clean. Today we have a single, simple tip for your carpet and crazily enough it involves baking.

Getting Rid of Odors In Your Carpet

Baking soda that is! So this is what you need:

    • broom and dustpan
    • baking soda
    • vacuum

First you need to take a lot of baking soda and pour it all over your carpet. If the baking soda is wet, you might want to be careful because wet baking soda can get stuck in the tiny fibers of your carpet. It might take a few days before you could vacuum it out completely.

Next, let the baking soda sit on the carpet over night or as long as you can stand it. The longer it stays on there, the more it absorbs. Baking Soda neutralizes acidic odors. It literally kills them.

The final step is to sweep up the bigger piles of baking soda and then vacuum the rest. Vacuum slowly to make sure you pick up all the baking soda particles and check your bag often because it will fill up fast. After you’ve vacuumed you can smell around your carpet and see if their are any isolated spots that need the treatment again.

Repeat until you’re satisfied with the smell of your carpet. What you should do next is call us for a professional shampooing and we’ll get your carpet looking brand new again. We offer many specials to meet the needs of your house and carpet.
